  • What is considered a hazardous material?
A hazardous material (HazMat) refers to any item or substance that poses a significant risk to health, safety, or property during transportation. This includes chemicals, flammable liquids, explosives, gases, corrosive substances, radioactive materials, and other items classified under international and domestic regulations, such as the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) and the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. If your shipment arrives to the Fife warehouse with any kind of HazMat labeling on the packaging, it will be assessed a HazMat fee of $152 per shipment. Lithium-Ion batteries are hazardous!
  • What can I do about Washington sales tax?
Washington is an end use tax state, which means that the sales tax is only applicable if the end use of the product is going to be in Washington. The state of Washington recommends that you try to deal with the seller directly on getting the taxes removed or refunded. If the seller is not amicable, you can apply for a sales tax refund through the State. You can find more information here. Please reach out via email if you need the BOL to get a refund.
  • What is considered oversized?
Any shipment over 8' is considered oversize and will need to be quoted for an accurate price. Email shelby@kenaifreightforwarders.com with the dimensions and weight of your shipment for an estimate.
  • How long will it take for my shipment to arrive?
Shipments depart Washington once a week on Wednesdays. The delivery cutoff time to make that weeks shipment is 12pm. Once a shipment departs Washington, it arrives in Alaska at the beginning of the following week. If you are in a rush and your shipment missed the 12pm cutoff, reach out and we can explore doing an extra shipment on Friday.

We can ship small arms ammo. It will have a HazMat fee and you do need to contact us prior to shipping.
  • Will you help me load my items?
There will be at least one person available to assist during pickup, but ultimately, it is your responsibility to load your shipment. We do have a forklift at both warehouse locations and will load large shipments into a truck or onto a trailer.
  • Are my shipments insured?
We are not liable for your shipments while they are in the hands of our shipping partners per our customer contract. Our shipping partners do have nominal insurance for most circumstances. If you are shipping a high value item, please reach out to discuss additional insurance options.
  • Why is my invoice weight heavier than what my vendor said?
Often times the weight you find online is for the actual weight of your item, not the weight of the item when it is packaged. If your item is heavy, oversized, or has a lot of pieces it is likely on a pallet to be shipped, or we will put it on one so that it can be moved throughout the shipping process. We will not subtract any of that "packaging" weight from your invoice.
